GOD IS MERCIFUL AND FORGIVING

God is merciful and forgiving, through faith in Jesus Christ.

1 Timothy 2: 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,

Acts 4:12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."

Mankind tends to make up and imagine all sorts of messiahs and saviors, but God the Father chose just one to redeem mankind from their sins, His Son Jesus Christ. He was the Heavenly Father’s choice and thus the only redeemer that God recognizes.

Paul the Apostle is a wonderful example of God’s mercy and grace. Paul’s letters comprise one fifth of the New Testament. People tend to forget that even the champions of faith in the Bible were sinners, too. Paul was one as well, and it is encouraging to read about the early church leader’s lives. The Lord God used Paul to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles and around the world.

The Stoning of Steven- Read Acts 7:51 to 8:3

At first Paul was zealous to destroy God’s church of early believers. He was violent with believers in Jesus Christ and was zealous to destroy the Lord’s church. But the Lord reached out and made Paul understand that the believers were the ones that made up His Church.

Saul’s Conversion- Acts 9:1 – 19

Paul’s appreciation of Gods Mercy – 1 Timothy 1:13-16

13 Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief.

14 The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.

15 Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners--of whom I am the worst.

16 But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life.

Satan loves to try to put doubts in our minds to keep us from sharing our faith and from doing God’s work. We are all sinners, but through faith in Jesus Christ we are loved and accepted.

Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Even Paul, in Romans chapter seven, admitted that he still had to contend with sin in his life. He was not perfect but continued to advance and testify of Jesus Christ because of God’s mercy and grace poured out on him. Because of our trust and faith in Jesus Christ, God pours out that same mercy and grace on each one who believes and trusts in His Son.

Romans 8:1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,

2 Peter 3: 9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

Romans 10:8 But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming:

9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame."

12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him,

13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
