The End of the World
The End of the World
Just recently a person that I was talking with made the statement, “I keep hearing about the coming end of the world and that scares me.”
This topic comes up in the today’s media often. With the obvious breakdown of society with the passing of time, everyone knows that this is a real possibility. Several sources mention the coming of the end of the world, but I would like us to go over what God’s Word (The Bible) says about the situation.
The major statements that concern this topic are found in the Bible are in the books of Ezekiel, Daniel, Matthew, and Revelation. As well there are other references scattered throughout the Bible. There are the Bible verses that make prophecy statements, and people disagree left and right on what it means and where chronologically it fits into the future time line.
One of the most interesting prophecies deals with coming red moons mentioned in scripture. It is forecast that Israel will soon go through calamities that will effect the entire world. The middle of April could be very interesting around the world. Please look at the link below.
Before we get started into looking at these verses, one fact is made clear in the Bible. Those who put their hope and trust in God’s son Jesus Christ do not have to fear or be overly concerned. Jesus Christ is our Savior who died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins, he was really dead, and in three days he raised to life again. He has power over sin and death and defeats our final enemy.
John 11:25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies;
26 and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?"
27 "Yes, Lord," she told him, "I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world."
John 3: 36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him."
Hebrews 9: 27 Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,
28 Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
The problem is that we are sinners needing restoration with a Holy God; this is accomplished with a simple childlike faith and trust in Jesus Christ.
Now let us move on to what the Bible says about the end times, the last day, and the end of the world as we know it.
2 Peter 3:11 Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives
12 as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat.
13 But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness.
Isaiah 34:1 Come near, you nations, and listen; pay attention, you peoples! Let the earth hear, and all that is in it, the world, and all that comes out of it!
2 The LORD is angry with all nations; his wrath is upon all their armies. He will totally destroy them, he will give them over to slaughter.
3 Their slain will be thrown out, their dead bodies will send up a stench; the mountains will be soaked with their blood.
4 All the stars of the heavens will be dissolved and the sky rolled up like a scroll; all the starry host will fall like withered leaves from the vine, like shriveled figs from the fig tree.
Matthew 24:4 Jesus answered: "Watch out that no one deceives you.
5 For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Christ, ' and will deceive many.
6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.
7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.
8 All these are the beginning of birth pains.
9 "Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me.
10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other,
11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people.
12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold,
13 but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.
26 "So if anyone tells you, 'There he is, out in the desert,' do not go out; or, 'Here he is, in the inner rooms,' do not believe it.
27 For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
28 Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather.
29 "Immediately after the distress of those days "'the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.'
Many people will claim to be the savior or deliverer of the world. They will promise people anything to get their allegiance, but then will fail to deliver. However, Jesus can deliver, because he is the divine creator. Since Jesus is the divine creator, he can sustain or judge his creation.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 He was with God in the beginning.
3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
4 In him was life, and that life was the light of men.
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Most people of this world do not want to acknowledge that there is one way of for reconciliation with a Holy God. They deny absolute truth. Because Christians stand for one way to God through Jesus Christ, the rest of the world says we are haters and intolerant of other religions. Leaders who rule the world want to attract all religions so they will say there is not just one way to a relationship with God, they will say there are many.
The Bible makes it plain in its statements about Jesus Chirst.
John 14: 6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Acts 4: 12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."
1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.
The prophecies in the Bible will come to pass. We just don’t know when and in what exact order. The only guarantee we have in life is to place our faith, hope, and trust in Jesus Christ.
John 10:8 But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming:
9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame."
12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him,
13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
This world has a fatal flaw – sin. It will be judged by a Righteous Holy God.
Those who trust in Jesus Christ will not feel God's wrath, because it has been placed on Jesus Christ 2000 years ago at the cross where he was crucified.
Jesus Christ is the solution for Eternal Life!
