Who is Jesus Christ?

If we pick up a book or a magazine, we will read all kinds of articles concerning who the author believes Jesus Christ to be. Some call him a good man, some call him a prophet. But the true facts that count are what the Holy Spirit says about him in the Bible. More than an article in Time Magazine, the Bible states who he is, where he came from, where he went, and that he is returning one day. The first time, he came as the suffering servant to redeem us from our sins. His next return will be as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Then he will be our judge. Since he created the heavens and earth simply by speaking, it is obvious that he has much more power and a much higher intellect than we are given.

God puts a high value on Faith. He wants us to believe what he said - and then act upon our beliefs.

Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

The best summary of what the Bible states about him is stated in the Apostles' Creed:

I believe in God, the Father almighty,

creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord,

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

born of the Virgin Mary,

suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died, and was buried;

he descended to the dead.

On the third day he rose again;

he ascended into heaven,

he is seated at the right hand of the Father,

and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy catholic Church,

the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting. Amen.

God states that one day this present world and heavens will be burned up by fire and a new one prepared for eternity will come into existence. The only guarantees this old world offer are death and taxes. However Jesus Christ offers us joy and eternal life in trusting and following Him. That is a guarantee worth seeking.
